The first time I was pregnant I didn’t know very well what would happen, I was just happy and excited. People, who knows me, used to tell me advises and warnings based in their experiences. Everybody said to me: “you won’t can to do anything, your life will be your baby, you won’t can to go out or travel or resting, you won’t can watch tv quiet….” I was overwhelmed for a time and I went to cinema more thant the rest of my life, I went out with my husband like it was the last saturday I would go out, I tried to enjoy each moment to the limit… until one day I said “stop, what am I doing?” And I stopped and enjoyed my pregnant state. I could feel there is somebody inside you that he/she try to communicate with you with kicks, movements or physical discomfort, saying to you “stop, it doesn’t go well”
It is amazing children, who can’t talk, warn you about you are not in a right way. They warn you about stopping, breathing and thinking about what are happening. Our children are little wises that they help us to grow and be a better person.
Since that moment I have always seen maternity like an opportunity that life give to me to be the best version by myself.
They teach me the true love, they teach me to listen, to have patience, to learn from mistakes, they teach me that it’s good take a risks, to have not fear of making mistakes, to be persistent if I want to get something and, above everything, they teach me to leave flowing the imagination and creativity. They teach me that I be myself it is not so bad.
There is an academy inflation that when a kid starts school until finisht the university, everything is based in degrees. Before if you had a degree you got a good job, but know there are many young people that when they finish their studies come back at home without job. The last Friday a blogger, una mamá prácitca, pass me a video of Ken Robinson that told education is hierarchical: first, you can find maths and languages; in second place, humanities, and at least, arts and these are divided in music and art in first place and dramma and dance in second place. Why don’t children learn to dance with same frequency that maths? — the answer for much years have been “this don’t give you a good job or money” but where is happiness? What about children happiness? Children dance all time, laugh, play, sing… so why do that they hate study at school. There are multitude of ways to learn playing all issues they need, without cut their creativity, talent and happiness.
The human imagination is a gift for the future, for their future and our work is educate them so they know their talent, possibilities and limits to face up that future. They give us a lot of things… don’t you think that they are worthy of it?
